At Santa Ynez Pet Hospital, we care for many types of pets:
- Dogs
- Cats
- Rabbits
- Pocket Pets
- Reptiles
- Birds
Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets’ complete health needs.
Because of the shorter lifespans of our pets, we stress the importance of annual physical examinations. For geriatric patients we recommend they be checked twice yearly. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems for both cats and dogs. Routine blood work can track minor changes that if left unchecked could bloom into serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your special “family members” in the best of health.
Appointments: We operate on an appointment basis. We try very hard to accommodate your appointment needs the best we can as scheduling allows. If we are unable to see you at your requested time we will do our best to work you in as soon as possible. We always accommodate emergencies.
Emergencies: We have a veterinarian at all times to accommodate an emergency during regular business hours. Emergencies can be anything from poisoning, to being hit by a car, to other catastrophic injuries. In case of any emergency, it is always best to call ahead if possible to alert our staff to be ready and to advise you if necessary.
Surgical Services: Our fully equipped surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures, including soft tissue surgery, wound repairs, abdominal surgery, variety of orthopedic surgeries, as well as sterilization procedures.
Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Monitoring of patients during anesthesia is done two ways. First, a trained technician is with your pet continuously from beginning of anesthesia to recovery. Second, we have a computerized monitor that records pulse rate, oxygen levels, respiration, ECG, and blood pressure.
Internal Medicine: We offer ultrasounds and endoscopy procedures as well as in-house referrals to internal medicine consultants who help us with the diagnosis of more complicated cases.
Radiology Services: Our on-site, digital x-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to quickly aid in the diagnosis of many health issues.
Electrocardiography Services: We provide ECG services on site as well as consultations to or with cardiology specialists.
Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental x-rays, endodontic procedures, tooth extractions, and oral surgery.
Laboratory: We provide an in-house laboratory to determine chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite for immediate results. This provides a faster diagnosis and treatment for your pet. We also utilize a commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
